For nurses, being prepared isn’t optional-it’s essential. Disaster readiness encompasses comprehensive planning, resource management, legal understanding, and seamless coordination that can mean the difference between chaos and coordinated care.

Disaster readiness refers to the systematic preparation and capability of healthcare systems and nursing staff to respond effectively when emergencies overwhelm normal operations. Research shows that nurses currently lack adequate preparation for disaster response, despite being pivotal in safeguarding public health during emergencies.
